![]() ![]() I have previously placed a post regarding Windows 7 Professional and Mastercam at an early point in this thread. The software works fine if I connect it over the network. ![]() The scanning software that came with my Epson Workforce 610 does not have signed USB port drivers and Win7 will not load those drivers. This is allegedly for the benefit of security. The issue with drivers in Win7 is due to Win7 requiring drivers to be signed. Quad cores are perhaps your best bet when using virtual machines. With a single core the computer runs slow, much slower than you would want in a commercial environment where speed equals efficiency. Those additional cores give you extra muscle and you will have a better experience with the virtual machine by doing so. If you are going with updated machines, be sure to get multi-core processors with at least 4 gig of ram. This however may be due to my having a single core processor. I have found that some software works well with it others do not. Haven't done it myself only read about it as we are contemplating getting more current computers that come with.you guessed it.Windows 7!!!Using virtual machine is a bit of a hit and miss. You have to use Windows 7 Professional or better, download and install the Windows XP Mode emulator, run that as a "Virtual Machine", and then run the legacy program in the virtual machine. My understanding about running legacy programs in Windows 7 is what wcthomas did. ![]() can't do a better job of securing their software. I can't believe that companies like CNC Software Inc. ![]() while others are running the full package that they downloaded off of the internet for free. I feel like a chump when I think about the $17,000.00 that I have spent with CNC Software Inc. I have been forced to buy a Mastercam upgrade in order to run a new version of Windows so I know what you mean about the cost factor. I'll put up with it until I get totally p'd off and then I'll format the disk and install Windows XP Professional. Microsoft has always been pretty good about backwards compatibility but they pretty much abandoned it with Windows 7. One of my programs that I wrote in C++ has a timer and when I run the program it makes other various windows blink every time the timer hits. I managed to install my VB6 and C++ programming software, but it provokes warning messages when I run the software. I was planning on trying to install Mastercam in the morning but you pretty much confirmed my suspicion that it won't run in Windows 7. I just recently acquired a laptop that has Windows 7 and I absolutely HATE the O.S. ![]()
